I have a lot of friends who are, what I like to call, coffee snobs. They regularly go to the fancy coffee shops in order to purchase cups of coffee with Italian names that I can’t even pronounce. In fact, I often make fun of them because I do not believe that anyone in their right mind would ever pay ten bucks for a cup of coffee. The fact is, so long as the coffee is hot and black, I will probably enjoy it. That is why it has never been difficult for me to figure out which coffee machine to buy. All I have to do is look for something that is compact, inexpensive, and will filter hot water through coffee.
My friends, on the other hand, often discuss these incredibly expensive coffee makers when we are just having friendly discussions, and when they try and tell me which coffee machine to buy, I simply ignore them. I do not need anything that is fancy and puts whip cream on top of my cup of coffee. All I really need is a simple coffee maker that can fit on my counter and get the job done. I really do not see why these guys like all of the incredibly sweet coffees when I can make a decent cup without having to pay an arm and a leg.
Anyway, maybe I am just old school. There is certainly a market for these fancy coffee makers, and the fact that my friends are so into them just proves it. They do tend to look at me funny when I tell them I just want a black cup of coffee, though. I guess everyone has their own subjective preferences, and that is just fine by me.
